Costumes
Thanks to a donation from a corporate sponsor, Pioneer Hi-Bred Limited, the Chatham-Kent Dickens Fellowship is establishing a wardrobe of Dickensian costumes which are loaned to theatre groups and other community groups requiring costumes of the 1850s era. The costumes are worn as well by members at various events throughout the year to promote the Fellowship.
We are gradually building up our inventory of costumes and have developed borrowing policies with respect to their use.
Our costume committee is also developing a library and resource list of books, articles and relevant internet sites. This activity was greatly enhanced through a visit to the wardrobe department at the historic Greenfield Village site in Michigan, U.S.A. Their staff made a presentation on Dickens era clothing and provided us with a guided behind-the-scenes tour.
